Hats off to the President
On February 15, 2013 by LoriGood Old Abe
Today kicks off the beginning of the Presidents three-day weekend celebration. Celebrated on the third Monday in February, this holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day Weekend after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. (That was an education?!)
Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present. Click here to see how our family has honored them in the past. This year, I give a special shout out to Abe. I will enjoy “Lincoln” this weekend. In doing so, I will also be getting myself Oscar ready.
Every year we are invited to our friends Oscar party. The hosts don’t mess around, so you need to come prepared with a wet palette to judge all the culinary creations and you must be knowledgable on all films nominated.
I have booked our room up in the 90210 and will pack up full costume as we must attend in full character. Jeff’s got the gotye going, so he might as well shoot for the beard and go as Affleck in Argo. I can use his top hat and grab my slim black suit- maybe I can go as Abe.
